UCSC Scanning Electron Microscope Facility

 

UC Santa Cruz Earth and Planetary Sciences SEM facility is home to the Thermoscientific Apreo SEM, capable of electron imaging down to nanoparticle scales, boasting novel compound lenses and the latest technologies in electron microscopy1. The Apreo has innumerable applications because of its ability to handle many types of samples, high and low vacuum chamber modes, and a wide range of sensitive detectors (e.g. Everhart-Thornley, in-lens backscatter, energy and charge filtering, EDS, EBSD, CLD, see below for details).

Internal academic rates: $35/hr

External academic rate: $35/hr plus overhead
